The Black Sox are still alive at the softball World Championship in Canada.

New Zealand has beaten Japan 10-6 in an extra inning thriller.

The scores were locked at 6-all at the end of the regulation seven innings.

They now play Venezuela or USA at 3pm on Sunday.

The winner of that clash will go through to play the loser of the match between Australia and Canada for a place in the final on Monday.

Black Sox coach Eddie Kohlhase believes his team is getting back on track after a couple of close shaves

Kohlhase said the Kiwi side have regrouped after their 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Australia on Saturday.

Adding that if the side can get on a roll this afternoon then a couple of teams will have cause to be worried about the Black Sox.
