Taupo's Patrick Bevin outsprinted former world junior champion Jeremy Yates and Waikato rider Eric Drower to win the 160km men's race in Saturday's Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge.
In the elite women's field Cambridge's Melissa Holt won almost one and a half minutes ahead of Wanganui's Cath Cheatley.
Over 11,000 riders were participating in this year's challenge around Lake Taupo.
