The men's 470 dinghy medal race has been postponed at the Olympic regatta because of light winds.

New Zealand's Paul Snow Hansen and Jason Saunders are fifth heading into the race and lie 15 points off Argentina who hold the bronze medal position.

Australia's Malcolm Page and Mat Belcher hold a four-point lead over British pair Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell in the race for gold.

The medal race was due to get underway at 1pm on Thursday, but light winds forced organisers to postpone the showpiece final for several hours.

The windspeed, which at 11am was only about two or three knots, will now be monitored to see if the race will be staged on Thursday.

If not, it will be held on Friday or Saturday.
