Olympics: NZ day three results, day four schedule

How NZ athletes fared at the London Olympics on day three and what's coming up tonight.

Day three results

HOCKEY: Two first-half goals to South Korea's You Hyo Sik consign the Blacks Sticks men to a 2-0 defeat in the opening match at Riverbank Arena.

ROWING: The women's quad scull of EVE MACFARLANE, FIONA BOURKE, LOUISE TRAPPITT and SARAH GRAY break an oar in the repechage to miss a spot in their final; the men's quad of ROBBIE MANSON, MATTHEW TROTT, MICHAEL ARMS and JOHN STOREY win their repechage to qualify for the semi-final; doubles scull FI PATERSON and ANNA REYMER are straight into the final after finishing second in their heat; the men's four of SEAN O'NEILL, CHRIS HARRIS, JADE URU and TYSON WILLIAMS are edged out for third and must race in a repechage on Tuesday.

SWIMMING: NATALIE WIEGERSMA swims more than four seconds slower than her personal best to miss a spot in the women's 200m individual medley semi-finals.

TENNIS: MARINA ERAKOVIC loses 6-2 6-1 to Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak in the first round at Wimbledon.

SAILING: Finn sailor DAN SLATER wins a race to move into sixth overall at Weymouth; the men's Star pair HAMISH PEPPER and JIM TURNER also grab a win to lie 10th; Men's 49er crew PETER BURLING and BLAIR TUKE are ninth after their first day of racing; ANDREW MURDOCH in the men's Laser is ninth overall over two mid-field finishes; the women's matchracing crew of STEPHANIE HAZARD, JENNA HANSEN and SUSANNAH PYATT lie joint fourth after a win and a loss on day two; Laser Radial sailor SARA WINTHER is 27th after a poor opening day.

EQUESTRIAN: An agonising one second is all that comes between eventer MARK TODD and the lead heading into the showjumping phase after the cross country at Greenwich Park. ANDREW NICHOLSON is ninth after a clear round, while JOCK PAGET is 14th, CAROLINE POWELL joint 24th, and JONELLE RICHARDS 31st. New Zealand is fourth in the team event.

CANOE SLALOM: LUUKA JONES s crapes into the semi-finals after finishing 15th fastest in the heats at Lee Valley white water course.
