ATHLETICS - KIM SMITH is 15th in the women's marathon ; NICK WILLIS eases into the 1500m final after finishing third in his semi-final.

BOXING - Women's lightweight ALEXIS PRITCHARD beats Tunisia's Rim Jouini 15-10 to adavance to the quarter-finals; Women's flyweight SIONA FERNANDES is outclassed in her bout against Bulgaria's Stoyka Petrova losing 23-11.

CYCLING - SHANE ARCHBOLD is seventh in men's omnium; NATASHA HANSEN is 12th in the women's sprint.

HOCKEY - The Black Sticks men draw 1-1 with Belgium to end their slim hopes of making the semi-finals.

SAILING - Star pair HAMISH PEPPER and JIM TURNER surged up the leaderboard with a second place in the medal race to finish fifth overall; Finn sailor DAN SLATER is also second to end the regatta in seventh; 49er pair PETER BURLING and BLAIR TUKE remain second behind Australia with one day of racing left before the medal race; Windsurfer JP TOBIN is seventh heading into the medal race after two 17th place finishes; women's 470 pair JO ALEH and OLIVIA POWRIE drop one place to lie second after six races.

OTHER - Usain Bolt (Jamaica) won the 100m men's final in 9.63 seconds, silver to Yohan Blake (Jamaica) who ran 9.75 and bronze to Justin Gatlin (USA) right behind him on 9.79.
