How New Zealand athletes fared at the London Olympics on day five and what's coming up tonight

ROWING: Women's pair JULIETTE HAIGH and REBECCA SCOWN hang on to win bronze ; Men's pair HAMISH BOND and ERIC MURRAY crush rival to progress to final.

Single sculler MAHE DRYSDALE eases wins his semi-final to book his spot in the final; Men's quad scull ROBBIE MANSON, MATTHEW TROTT, MICHAEL ARMS and JOHN STOREY miss their final after finishing fourth in their semi.

JUDO: MOIRA DE VILLIERS is beaten by eventual silver medallist Kerstin Thiele in her first round match.

SWIMMING: GARETH KEAN in 29th fastest in the men's 200m backstroke heats; the women's 4x200m freestyle relay team of NATASHA HIND, SAMANTHA LUCIE-SMITH, AMAKA GESSLER and MELISSA INGRAM break the national record but miss out on the final to be 11th fastest.

SAILING: ANDREW MURDOCH rises five places on the Laser leaderboard after a win and a seventh; the 49er crew of PETER BURLING and BLAIR TUKE sit in second place overall after a third and fifth.

Windsurfer JP TOBIN improves three placing in the RS:X after a third and seventh; Star crew HAMISH PEPPER and JIM TURNER improve to eighth overall after a sixth and a fifth on the third day of racing.

Women's match racing crew STEPHANIE HAZARD, JENNA HANSEN and SUSANNAH PYATT lose to the US but beat Britain to have a four win, four loss record to sit joint fourth; Laser Radial sailor SARA WINTHER is 27th overall after a 35th and 31st.

HOCKEY:The BLACK STICKS men come back from a goal down to beat India 3-1 for their first win.

FOOTBALL: Brazil are too good for the OLY WHITES, beating them 3-0 to eliminate them from the Olympics.
