Kiwis warned about Olympic tickets scam

Published: 11:16AM Tuesday July 24, 2012 Source: Fairfax

London's metropolitan police has issued a warning about a number of websites offering tickets for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

New Zealand is one of several countries which have been asked to distribute this warning.

The company, Euroteam, is under active investigation and individuals are strongly advised not to purchase London Olympic or Paralympic Games tickets from them.

Any individuals that have purchased tickets from these sites or any other unofficial vendor are advised to contact the company direct and to also seek advice from your method of payment provider.

Detective Superintendent Nick Downing from the Metropolitan Police Service said: "Please check carefully if you have bought tickets from any of these websites, I am seriously concerned that anyone who has bought Olympic or Paralympic tickets will now not receive them."

"There is an ongoing investigation by the Norwegian police into the wider activity of this company, and we know that the company have stated that they have not sourced all of the Olympic and Paralympic tickets that they have sold" said Downing.

Anyone in New Zealand who has used these sites and wishes to report concerns to Police should do so at their local police station. Details will be forwarded to the metropolitan police via Interpol.
