Episode 9: Mud Oven Apple Crumble

Mud Oven Apple Crumble

1. Crank up the mud oven with a good fire -  say 40 minutes or so

2. Slice 3 apples and lay into a loaf tin

3. Sprinkle with one tbp  sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon

4. Pour over 1/2 a cup of water or something naughty if you feel like it

5. Mix together 1 cup plain flour, 3/4 cup of brown sugar (raw sugar is ok but a bit grainy) and 2 crumbled weetbix

6. Rub in 3 tbs of butter  - it needs to be soft but not melted - once it is the texture of big biscuit crumbs, it's done

7. Pour the crumble topping over the sliced apple and pat down lightly

8. Put into the mud oven for about 20-30 minutes - keep an eye on it, cook times vary

9. While you wait, whip cream by shaking it in a small jar with a sprinkle of sugar

10. Serve, slather in cream and enjoy
