About the show

TV2's new half hour entertainment series NZ Smashes Guinness World Records pits teams of Kiwi record-breakers against the world, as each week we attempt to bring another Guinness World Record to New Zealand.

It's 13 weeks of death-defying, awe-inspiring, unforgettably funny, entertainment television!

Hosted by Marc Ellis - who is himself a Guinness World Record holder - NZ Smashes Guinness World Records brings the legendary record book alive with the craziest, funniest and sometimes even downright dangerous world record attempts! From cramming people in a Mini to crashing through panes of glass, ordinary New Zealanders will attempt to break the most famous Guinness records... and some you didn't even know existed!

There are already over 80 current Guinness World Records held in New Zealand - from most expensive film ever produced (King Kong), to the most rubber band stretched on a face, the most bungy jumps in 24 hours and of course Macca's record for the number of tries scored by an All Black in a test match! (It was six in 1995 against Japan at the Rugby World Cup, and the record still stands).

NZ Smashes Guinness World Records is now set to take on the challenge and bring home more world records for New Zealand & with very physical (and very funny) extreme world record attempts! It's New Zealand vs the world as our own Kiwi battlers try to smash the official world record currently held by overseas champions.

NZ Smashes Guinness World Records follows each New Zealand record attempt every step of the way. First we'll show the overseas record attempts and the current record holder, and then we'll introduce the Kiwi men and women who are primed and pushing themselves to become brand new record breakers!

Every record featured is a genuine Guinness World Record attempt, and if successful, will be recognised as an official Guinness World Record. A Guinness World Record adjudicator is at every recording to officiate and rule on the results.

NZ Smashes Guinness World Records will captivate viewers with a funny and positive take on the sometimes bizarre, occasionally shocking but always awe inspiring Kiwi men and women pushing themselves to become brand new record breakers!
