Marc Ellis
Record Attempt: Fastest Time to Tape Yourself
to a Wall
Previous World Record: Ashrita Furman, 8
min 7 seconds
World Record smashed: Marc shaved a respectable 10 seconds
off the previous world record, setting a new world record
of 7 minutes 57 seconds.
There really could be no other choice for host of TV2's new show,
NZ Smashes Guinness World Records.
New Zealand's favourite larrikin, Marc has been clowning around for our viewing pleasure for over ten years.
Throw in a sporting challenge, no matter how bizarre or outrageous, and 'Macca' is always the man of the moment.
And of course the former All Black, Warrior and Kiwi league star is already a proud holder of a Guinness World Record himself.
In 1995 at the Rugby World Cup, Marc famously scored six tries against Japan, a new world record for the most tries scored by an All Black in a test match. And the record still stands.
Marc's irreverent antics and hard-case humour saw him voted Favourite Male Personality in the Woman's Day People's Choice Awards two years running, in 2006 and 2007.
Together with former league star and mate Matthew Ridge, Marc first hit our screens in 1996 on Ansett New Zealand Time of Your Life. Their partnership continued with Fresh Up In The Deep End, Game of 2 Halves, and the Rocky Road series.
Marc made the successful transition from sportsman to businessman in 2000, with the launch of his juice company Charlie's.
He has since hosted Top Town, Who Dares Wins, and How The Other
Half Live, before taking up the mantle of NZ Smashes Guinness World
Records.
