Ari is an unemployed mother of two gorgeous twin five-year-old
girls.
With her daughters having recently started school, and despite the fact she left college with no qualifications, this strong-minded young woman says she's determined to get her life back on track and forge a career in music to give her little family a better quality of life.
"It's been a tough few years after their father left, but I'm very ambitious and determined to get there somehow," she says.
"My daughters inspire me to be a better person and to always try to do my best. I have a genuine love and passion for music and people and I believe I will represent New Zealand really well."
Ari is the daughter of well-known Maori musician and entertainer Riki Watane former manager of the famous Maori Volcanics. From the age of 13 she says her beloved Dad used to drag her to his gigs at various clubs and pubs and talk her into singing on stage.
She is currently a floating part-time member of several local
bands but dreams of hitting the big time.
"I am part of the new generation of talent coming through. If I win
NZGT I want to help our youth to, first and foremost, live better
and strive to achieve their dreams whatever they may be."
