GS - Irene van Dyk - 7/10 (23/28 shooting)
Like her whole team, started particularly strongly but in the final quarter froze under the pressure of imposing Australian defender Susan Furhmann. While 83% shooting accuracy is good for most shooters, for van Dyk it represents a rather average day in the office.
GA - Maria Tutaia - 5.5/10 (20/27 shooting)
Was the player most under pressure in the lead-in to this Test to keep her starting place and tonight's performance certainly didn't help her cause. She had two critical misses of goal in the final few minutes while her poor ball security led to a few costly turnovers.
WA and C - Temepara George - 7/10
George played the first half at wing attack and shared a good partnership with Langman, both feeding the circle well. Shifted to centre in the second half and sparked an even better understanding with Barrett Chase in the third quarter before losing her mojo in the fourth.
C and WD - Laura Langman - 6/10
Langman played the first half at centre before shifting to wing-defence in the second stanza. She started strongly before falling away badly as the game wore on, committing a number of forced and unforced errors. May prefer the centre bib but the Ferns looked better when George and Barret-Chase were ruling the midcourt.
WD - Joline Henry - 6.5/10
Played the first half and executed one intercept. Made a nuisance of herself well enough and her height certainly gave the Ferns an imposing defensive line. She probably is a better option than Langman.
GD - Casey Williams - 8/10
As usual, the Silver Ferns captain pulled of a performance of Richie McCaw magnitude. Executed three intercepts and hustled well despite Sharelle McMahon and Natalie Medhurst landing the decisive blows. Goal Defence may not be her best position but it does give her the flexibility to hunt further up court in her quest for the all important intercept play.
GK - Katrina Grant - 7/10
Played the first half and formed a daunting partnership with captain Williams. Managed two intercepts and was unlucky to be subbed at halftime for Leana de Bruin.
Substitutes
WA - Liana Barrett-Chase (7.5/10)
Barrett-Chase made a huge impression in the third quarter. Her vision and combination with George was world-class, showing the ability to manipulate the speed of the delivery at will. Should be up for a start come Wellington.
GK- Leana de Bruin (6/10)
Goal Keep is position of strength for the Ferns with Grant, de Bruin and Williams all capable of owning the defensive end. Didn't quite go to plan for de Bruin in her second half stint, but she did pull off one intercept.
