With Test match shooting statistics of 75/103 (73%), Griffin still has some way to go in matching her shooting rivals. But at 22 years of age she has the time to overtake her older counterparts.
After three seasons on the Silver Ferns squad, Griffin is still its second-youngest member - young enough to captain the NZ Under-21 team which finished second in the 2009 World Youth Championships.
Griffin joined the Silver Ferns squad in September 2006. Her hard work and rapid development was rewarded with a call-up to the team for the Silver Ferns tour to England in May 2007, followed two months later by her on-court debut against Jamaica.
Playing at goal attack alongside Irene van Dyk, she made the Silver Ferns starting line-up for the first time in the third Test against the World 7 on 29 August 2009; followed by the third Test against Australia on 13 September 2009, and the first Test of the International Series against Australia on 20 September 2009.
Griffin missed out on last year's Silver Ferns' squad. But due to a steady season with the Steel side she has earned a recall for the up and coming World Champs. Although Griffin netted just 271 from 340 (nearly 80%) attempts this ANZ Championship season, she made 39 assists, took 139 centre pass receives and made 44 turnovers. Her general play statistics are what set her apart from other shooters as she has a great work rate that rivals any international player.
