With the energy and foresight to match her height, Leana de Bruin is a highly effective defender with a fine record at international level and in major competitions.
Beginning her international career in South Africa where she earned 34 caps, de Bruin was then part of the victorious 2003 World Champion and 2006 Commonwealth Games Silver Ferns teams.
After having a season at the Mystics and then the Magic last year, De Bruin this year was part of an under performing Southern Steel franchise. The defender travelled from Cambridge to make matches and was helpful taking 30 intercepts and 36 rebounds for the season. De Bruin is unsure about her future with the Southern franchise under the newly appointed co-coaching duo.
