Young motocross rider seriously injured

An 11-year-old motocross rider was seriously injured when he fell from his bike and was hit by another rider in Matata in the Bay of Plenty on Sunday morning.

The boy was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital where he received treatment.

He was then transferred by helicopter to Starship Hospital for specialist treament on Sunday afternoon.
