A Croatian-born designer has taken out the top gong at the 2010 Emerging Designer Awards, held in Dunedin on Thursday night.
The awards, now in their sixth year, are a chance to give up and coming fashionistas a chance to compete on an international stage.
Igor Galas wowed the audience with his "Protector from knitted galaxy" collection.
The judges said the collection had a strong cohesive theme and demonstrated a great range of skills.
Galas took home the Life Pharmacy prize worth $5,000.
He has also won the chance to show his collection with fashion's elite at iD Fashion Week, which kicks off in the city on Friday night.
