A woman has died and another woman and two toddlers have been taken to hospital after a crash between a truck and a car this afternoon.
The accident occurred after a truck collided with a car carrying four people on Mill Road in Totara Park, south of Auckland, just before 3.30pm.
The occupants, two women and two toddlers aged 12 and 18 months, were initially trapped in the vehicle.
One woman died at the scene.
St John district operations manager Steve Walker said three ambulances responded to the crash as well as an intensive care paramedic in a rapid response vehicle.
"Another female adult with moderate injuries was transported to Middlemore and two children with moderate to serious injuries were transported to KidzFirst."
The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.
