There's a warning to people walking on the beach at Rothesay Bay on Auckland's North Shore about the dangers of rocks falling from the cliffs.
A 40-year old woman was found dead after being killed by falling rocks as she walked her two dogs on the beach this afternoon.
The incident happened at about 1pm, and police were alerted soon after.
The two dogs were found later, uninjured.
Auckland Council manager Ian McCormack said engineers have checked the area, which is subject to ongoing erosion.
They recommend that people stay away from the base of the cliff
as precaution. They have also placed signage in the area to warn
The woman's name will not be released until her next of kin has been fully notified.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances.
