A Dunedin woman has been released from hospital after she was assaulted twice in her home overnight.
The 31-year-old suffered facial injuries in the attacks, which happened in Argyle Street in suburban Mornington.
The first attack happened about 11pm when two men came to her property, said Senior Sergeant Kallum Croudis, of Dunedin police.
Police are yet to interview the woman, but Croudis said they suspected one of the men was responsible for the second attack later in the night.
A Caucasian man and a Maori man, both aged in their 30s, were seen walking along Argyle St early on Monday morning, he said.
It appeared the woman did not know the men.
The woman's two children, aged four and six, were in the house at the time but were unaware of the attack, Croudis said.
The children are now being looked after by friends.
The property has been cordoned off and police are conducting a scene examination on Monday.
