Power has been cut to several thousand homes on Auckland's North Shore, Vector reports.
The power company's website states that there has been a widespread outage in Albany, Coatesville, Paremoremo, Kaukapakapa, Red Beach, Silverdale and Waitoki.
It has also reported power cuts in The Gardens area in the south of the city, and in the Bucklands Beach region in the east.
Up to 2000 customers are still without power, down from around 5000 residents who were affected earlier this evening.
Power outages were first reported at 4pm this afternoon.
Vector said that technicians are currently working on fixing the outage, and expect power to be restored by 11pm. Vector had previously said power would be restored by 9pm.
They believe the outage was caused by a broken cross arm, which has dropped one power line onto another.
