An Invercargill couple say they have been forced to flee their home after being terrorised by "white supremacists" living next door.
Maggie and Neil Gibson left their Earn St home in suburban Appleby on Thursday to escape "skinheads" who regularly gathered next door.
Gibson says that early on Thursday a car stereo was thrown through their front window and items stolen when she and her husband left the house to escape the danger.
She said jewellery, a stereo, Sky decoder, cellphone, photos, CDs and DVDs were taken and the house trashed.
The offenders had also defecated on her doorstep, she says.
Gibson says she loved the house she'd lived in for two years but felt she couldn't come back.
Another resident says the occupants of the Earn Street were a white supremacist gang of males aged between 15 and 20 who kicked down fences, threw bricks at houses and yelled abuse and threats at passers-by.
They had painted swastikas and "Hail Satan" on the street.
Police say they were called to the house several times on Wednesday night during a party and made two arrests, for possession of an offensive weapon and disorderly behaviour.
The occupants of the house could not be contacted for comment.
