If you are in Wellington this week chances are you will see plenty of unicyclists as the Unicycle World Championships are being held there over the next 10 days.
The capital is hosting the 15th Unicycle World Championships. Some 600 uni-riders from 23 countries are taking part in the day event.
It is the first time the world champs have ever been held in the Southern Hemisphere.
Gilles Saudan, 2008 world champion, turned to the unicycle after seeing a circus.
"When I was younger I saw a show at the circus and I decided to try a unicycle, and we had no unicycle club, so I went to circus school," says Saudan.
Riders have come from around the world to compete and some of the events are quite surprising. If you thought one-wheelers were one-dimensional, think again.
Coordinator Arthur Klap believes people might be surprised to see just how comprehensive the competition is.
It includes everything from team sports played on unicycle, such as basketball and hockey, through to a full track programme.
Most of the events will be held around Wellington's waterfront.
