Wellington has gone football mad for Sunday's must win semi-final between the Phoenix and the Jets.
The game was a sell-out with fans painting the town yellow.
At the official Phoenix shop, tickets to the game were sold out and souvenirs were going the same way, with the shop selling over 500 Phoenix yellow and black shirts.
The most fanatical fans did their shopping ages ago and were more intent Saturday on lubricating their vocal chords.
"This is something that was always going to arrive, we got the finals, we're up for it, long may it continue. Two weeks to go until Melbourne or Sydney and we're in the grand final," one fan said.
But the Phoenix isn't just a Wellington team, with fans from across the country in the capital to watch the game.
Wellington City Council erected a 40 square-metre screen in the city for the hundreds of people who want to see the game but cannot get into the stadium.
