Wellington is putting on its 46th Christmas lunch for the needy and lonely.
More than 150 meals have been sent out to people who prefer to stay at home and at least the same number will be served at the Room at the Inn sit-down.
Wellington's Downtown Community Ministry's Lindy Pacey says a steady stream of people have been turning up for a feed.
Dunedin
Community spirit seems alive and well in Dunedin this Christmas. The Church of Christ Community is once again preparing for its annual Christmas lunch.
It's the 21st time the church has hosted the event, with organisers expecting a crowd of around 300 to turn up. Minister Dave Brown says the Christmas lunch attracts people from all walks of life.
Brown says feeding such a large number of people is made a lot easier with help from local food businesses. He says local firemen have volunteered to help carve the meat and serve dinner.
