A tourist has crashed his car after being stung by a wasp while driving.
The Danish man, 49, was flown to Nelson Hospital after rolling the vehicle at around 3.30pm today, while driving in the St Arnaud Nelson Lakes area.
A wasp flew in through the window of the car and stung the man, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The car then rolled, with the man sustaining further injuries, which have been described as "minor".
Department of Conservation staff came to the man's aid, before the Nelson Marlborough Rescue Helicopter arrived and the on-board intensive care paramedic was able to treat him.
He was then transported to hospital, where he is currently being treated.
