Warning - no late night Christmas shopping

If you are one of those people who thrives on deadlines - a warning not to leave your Christmas shopping too late.

Newmarket businesses spokesman Cameron Brewer says there is little late night shopping on Thursday night, with most malls closing at 6pm, and his message is aimed particularly at men.

Brewer says lunchtime on Thursday is expected to be extremely busy, with eftpos providers Paymark predicting more than 120 transactions a second that hour.

Christmas traffic

There are traffic problems for last minute Christmas shoppers in Auckland.

A crash on Gillies Avenue in Newmarket is causing a jam.

Police are advising motorists not to use the Gillies Avenue southern off ramp.
