Volunteer firefighter injured in Taranaki blaze

A volunteer firefighter was injured battling a large fire in Stratford this morning.

The Fire Service was alerted to the blaze at the old medical centre in Miranda Street around 3.30 this morning.

About 30 firefighters took about an hour to fully extinguish the fire.

The female firefighter was transported to hospital with a cut to her arm inflicted during the blaze. The injury is said to be minor.

Fire safety officers are investigating the cause of the fire.
