Tony Veitch is believed to have negotiated a plea bargain in his assault case.
The broadcaster is expected to appear in the Auckland District Court on Thursday.
Veitch has denied assaulting his former partner Kristin Dunne-Powell and injuring her with reckless disregard. But Veitch has stepped down from jobs at TVNZ and Radio Sport after allegations surfaced last year.
A depositions hearing was due to get under way next Monday but he is now expected to appear in court around 9am on Thursday.
It is unclear why a hearing has been called four days ahead of schedule.
His spokeswoman Glenda Hughes says there will be no comment ahead of the court appearance.
The injuring with reckless disregard charge carries a maximum penalty of five years imprisonment.
