Police are treating the death of a man found underneath the Totara Park Bridge in Upper Hutt this afternoon as "unexplained".
A member of the public discovered the body at around 1.15pm today.
"We have identified the body of the deceased as that of a 47-year-old man and are in the process of informing his next of kin," said Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard of the Hutt Valley CIB.
Barnard said the cause of the man's death has not been determined and is being treated as unexplained.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow morning.
