Take an umbrella if you are heading to Christmas in the Park in Auckland on Saturday night.
The huge event, held every year since 1994, begins at 7.30pm in the Auckland Domain.
Weather analyst Philip Duncan says there is a cold front moving north across New Zealand but Auckland will have only a few showers or drizzle.
He says people should take a little umbrella and a plastic-bottomed mat to the big celebration.
Auckland is likely to be warm but wet throughout Saturday.
In other parts of the country, MetService is warning of wind
gusts up to 130 kilometres an hour from inland Canterbury north to
Wellington and Wairarapa until Saturday afternoon.
Winds that strong can damage trees, power lines and insecure
buildings, as well as make driving hazardous.
Between the strong gusts, wind is expected to hover around 70
kilometres an hour.
MetService also forecasts heavy rain on Mt Egmont-Taranaki and
along the Tararua ranges through Saturday morning.
