Two seriously injured after Waitomo crash

Two people are being treated for serious injuries after being involved in a car crash on State Highway 3 in Waitomo.

Both people were trapped in the car, and have since been freed by fire service staff. They are being flown to Waikato Hospital by helicopter.

The State Highway 3 junction with State Highway 4 at Te Mapara, has been closed until further notice.

Police and the serious crash unit are investigating.
