Two people have been injured in a head-on crash on SH 2 near Te Puke.
The drivers were the only occupants in the cars and have moderate to serious injuries.
Both were trapped in their vehicles and had to be freed by the Fire Service.
Police say early indications are that one of the vehicles crossed the centre line and collided head on with the other vehicle.
Traffic was reduced to a single lane.
Meanwhile police have named the man killed in the crash between a motorcycle and truck at Wardville, near Matamata yesterday.
He was Ross Howard Blair, 45, of Te Aroha.
