Transport services across the country were affected by Sunday's tsunami warnings.
In Auckland, the Duty Harbourmaster warned people there may be flooding on Tamaki Drive and the North Western motorway, and Fullers cancelled its Waiheke, Devonport, Rangitoto and Half Moon Bay ferries between 10 and 11am because of the tsunami threat.
Ports of Auckland evacuated all commercial ships from the port to deep harbour, including the cruise ship Dawn Princess.
A total of five ships were ordered to move into deep water until the threat of a tsunami passed.
Commercial shipping and transport operations at the Waitemata seaport have since resumed with all affected vessels, including the Dawn Princess cruise ship, either already re-berthed or returning to port.
Ports of Auckland's Port Services General Manager Wayne Mills says all vessels will remain on standby to leave port at short notice.
Mills says the decision to resume operations was made in conjunction with the Auckland Regional Council Harbourmaster and on the basis of advice received from Civil Defence.
