Two tropical cyclones that have formed north of New Zealand are on the move toward Australia and both could affect New Zealand.
Weather analyst Philip Duncan says Tomas, currently a category two, is northeast of Fiji and could bring strong winds and heavy seas to Suva on the island of Viti Levu in the next few days. Vanua Levu could get huge seas and rain that will bring flooding and damaging gales.
New Zealand could experience slightly bigger seas for the North Island's east coast from Wednesday.
The other category two tropical cyclone, Ului, has developed near New Caledonia and could have a big impact on New Zealand. Duncan says it has the potential to grow into a category five storm.
He says the only thing protecting New Zealand from the cyclone will be a high pressure system and if the high weakens the threat increases.
The cyclone is likely to bring huge seas along Australia's east coast.
