Search and rescue teams have confirmed the father and two children, missing since Saturday in a Far North forest, have been found safe and well.
Teams had been searching for the trio since Saturday evening after the group failed to return home from a day hike.
The 40-year old man took his 13-year-old daughter and six year-old son for a day tramp on Friday in the Omahuta Forest, a remote area, south of Kaitaia.
Bad weather had been hampering the search effort, and the search teams say it is amazing the group managed to survive.
Police were very concerned for the group's wellbeing as they were unprepared.
They were only wearing clothing suitable for a day hike and have no food or other supplies.
Search and rescue members from the wider Northland squad began searching at first light on Sunday morning, with 30 members in five teams being taken into the area by an army Unimog.
A search base had been set up at a local marae.
The trio will be checked over by medical staff and are looking forward to being reunited with their family.
