Rallies and services around New Zealand will pay tribute on Tuesday to people who have died as a result of employment.
Tuesday is International Workers Memorial Day, honouring people killed, injured or diseased from their job.
Council of Trade Unions president Helen Kelly says an average of around 50 people are killed at work and over 200,000 injured each year.
She says Tuesday coincides with concern for ACC.
She believes it's under threat of privatisation - which could have a detrimental effect on workplace safety.
Kelly says it would reduce or delay payouts to maximise profit, leading to further accidents and unresolved conditions.
She says the day also aims to raise awareness about workplace safety.
Kelly says New Zealand's health and safety record in the workplace is poor.
She says the gatherings will pledge to make work environments safer.
