A Trade Me user has been convicted and fined for selling electrical plug adaptors.
Leigh Joe breached the electricity regulations by continuing to sell electrical products without first checking their safety.
The 24-year-old was fined $500 plus $280 costs in the Palmerston North District Court.
Energy Safety spokesman Richard Lamb says online traders need to realise that the same rules apply to them as everyone else selling electrical products.
In the past 12 months, Energy Safety has warned over 50 Trade Me members for similar breaches.
