Three men have been taken to hospital after a fight in Dunedin overnight.
One man suffered head injuries and another had head injuries and an unexplained wound to his stomach, Acting Senior Sergeant Chris McLellan of Dunedin police says.
The 21-year-olds are both in a stable condition in hospital where they are being kept for observation, he says.
The third man, a 22-year-old, has been treated and discharged for a wound to his hand.
The men were injured during a fight between two groups on South Road, about 2am.
Police have found several weapons, including wooden two by fours and a wooden pole.
They are still investigating the motive behind the fight, but say alcohol was a factor, McLellan says.
"It's slow work at this stage due to some cooperation issues."
No one has been charged yet.
