The Feilding community is again in shock after the discovery of three bodies inside a rural home.
The deaths were the latest in a spate of tragedies to hit the small Manawatu town.
Police said they were contacted this morning by someone concerned for the welfare of the occupants of a house in Lees Road.
The bodies of a middle-aged couple and an elderly man were found inside the house.
Police said they were not looking for anyone in connection to
the deaths. The Coroner had been notified.
Detective Senior Sergeant Craig Sheridan of Palmerston North police
said police had a lot of work to do at the house in coming days,
which would include a forensic examination, the removal of the
bodies and post mortem examinations.
Neighbours ONE News spoke to were upset.
"It's just getting too close to home," said Bryce Henderson.
Another neighbour, Judy Plimmer, said she had not met the occupants of the house but had seen one of them going up and down the drive on his four-wheeler motorbike.
It was the latest in a string of tragedies to hit the small town of Feilding.
Three weeks ago, Feilding man Lieutenant Tim O'Donnell was killed by insurgents in an attack on a Kiwi convoy in Afghanistan.
A month ago, Feilding flight instructor Jessica Neeson was killed in a mid-air collision.
And in July, Feilding farmer Scott Guy was gunned down in his driveway. His killer had not been found. Police stressed there was no evidence that today's deaths had any connection with the death of Guy.
"Although this is clearly a great tragedy, the people in Feilding have nothing to fear from this," Sheridan said.
