A Bay of Plenty teenager was abducted by a group of women before being beaten and left on the side of a road in the early hours of this morning.
Police say the 17-year-old female was involved in an altercation with three women in Opotiki around 5am this morning.
The women then pulled the victim into their vehicle before leaving her on the side of a road outside of the township.
The victim required medical attention after suffering injuries to her face and body.
Meanwhile, Bay of Plenty police are also investigating a home invasion and alleged sexual assault.
Police were called to a Kawerau address shortly after 5am this morning after a man allegedly broke into a 32-year-old woman's home.
The man allegedly sexually assaulted the woman, as other members of the household slept in an adjacent room, before he was forced off in a struggle. He then left the property and has not yet been located.
Police said the victim described the intruder as a male Maori, perhaps in his 30s.
