The family of the girl allegedly groped by Robin Brooke is now offering its sympathy to the former All Black as his youngest child fights for her life in hospital.

Former All Black Robin Brooke is facing further woes as his four-month-old daughter Rymer has been admitted to Tauranga Hospital with breathing problems.

The 43-year-old is under investigation after accusations of sexual assaulting a teenage girl.

The girl's mother told ONE News that her sympathies are with the Brooke family during this tough time.

The Herald on Sunday quoted a "close family friend" who said Rymer had been in hospital for more than a week.

"Rob and Hayley have been taking turns sitting with her, doing the nightly vigil. It's a pretty tough time for them," the friend says

Fiji police are investigating allegations Brooke twice groped a 15-year-old girl while holidaying in Fiji on New Year's Eve then attacked her 17-year-old male friend Jordan Whittaker when he attempted to intervene.

No charges have been laid.

Whittaker has reportedly filed a civil suit seeking $200,000 in damage while the girl's family say they just want an apology.
