Swimmer dies at Huntly pool

A 33-year-old man died at Huntly Aquatic Centre on Friday morning.

The man had just stopped swimming in the main pool when he collapsed and died about 7:30am, Acting Senior Sergeant Blair Donaldson says.

Aquatic Centre and ambulance staff unsuccessfully attempted to revive him.

Police say Occupational Health and Safety and Waikato District Council are investigating the death.

The name of the man has not yet been released.
