Name suppression for the man accused of infecting multiple sexual partners with HIV has been lifted.
It means ONE News has finally been allowed to show the accused man, 40-year-old train driver Glenn Richard Albert Mills.
He is is now facing charges relating to seven victims, including
one woman.
And police are expecting this number to rise.
They want to hear from anyone who has had sexual contact with Mills.
ONE News wasn't allowed to film Mills in court. But we received photos from a former male partner Michael Stevens, a HIV Researcher, who has not contracted HIV but wants people to see the face of Mills.
"It was really important to get the name out," says Stevens.
In court on Friday more charges were added. There are now seven alleged victims, six men and a woman. Five of the men have tested HIV positive.
"As you can imagine they're still adjusting to the seriousness of what this means in their lives," says Bruce Kilmister of Body Positive.
It's alleged the Auckland train driver preyed on men as young as 16.
Police say Mills was diagnosed HIV positive in May 2007 and has
allegedly led an "active sex life" since then.
A police investigation found he had put his profile on a number of
dating websites, attempting to solicit partners throughout the
country.
"It has tarnished our reputation and it's made life difficult for a lot of people," says Stevens.
Kilmister told ONE News they are expecting an increase in HIV testing in the next few weeks.
It's highly likely there will be more victims.
Kilmister says those Mills has allegedly infected are trying to come to terms with the situation.
"I guess there's a range of emotions they are feeling now. These are very young people, they're overwhelmed by it," says Kilmister.
Mills is being kept in custody until his next court appearance
in two weeks.
