Dozens of supporters rallied outside Wellington District Court on Monday morning as three peace activists went on trial charged with causing damage at Waihopai Spy Base, near Blenheim.

Adrian Leason, Peter Murnane and Sam Land are accused of deflating one of the protective domes over the base with a sickle in April 2008.

They have denied causing intentional damage and entry with intent to commit a crime after one of the domes was deflated at the base in April 2008.

Around 60 supporters gathered outside the court carrying placards calling for the spy base to be shut down.
