A Rotorua woman charged over an assault on supermarket workers says she has been unfairly judged by the media and public

Cellphone footage of the attack went viral. It allegedly shows Eve Campbell and her daughter Cherylly Campbell attacking staff at Countdown Rotorua on January 4.

The video shows two staff members attempting to pry bags from a group of women who they believe had shoplifted from the store as they tried to exit.

Both Eve and Cherylly have pleaded not guilty to assault charges.

Eve said she's not a violent person, she did not steal anything and that things have "got way out of hand".

"I'm very much a very reasonable person you can talk to," Campbell told TV ONE's Te Karere programme.

"I feel that I have been judged by the media and the public."

"I did not steal anything from that supermarket."

The two women were in court yesterday for a status hearing and will reappear in court on March 7.
