Strong winds fanned a blaze near the mouth of the Kaipara Harbour on Wednesday.
Firefighters struggled to contain the 15 hectare pine tree fire on Pouto Peninsula as the blaze was spread by 15 to 20 knot winds.
Meanwhile in the Far North, crews were fighting a 50 hectare scrub fire at Kaimaumau, north of Kaitaia.
And fabric draped around a plastic light shade hanging from a ceiling caused a fire in Blenheim which alerted police to drug activity.
Three cannabis plants were found growing in the backyard, as well as a quantity of dried cannabis and methamphetamine. Drug utensils and stolen property were also found at the address.
A 39-year-old solo father faces multiple drug charges, plus a charge of receiving stolen property.
