Firefighters are battling a blaze at a sawmill on the West Coast on Thursday.
Emergency services were contacted just after 1am to the fire in Stillwater, 15km north east of Greymouth, a southern fire communications spokesman said.
The fire at the large building was well involved by the time fire services arrived.
Five appliances were at the scene, with another two on the way, the spokesman said.
No houses were in danger of the flames and nobody had been injured.
