The future of a school for girls with special needs is still uncertain.

Salisbury School in Nelson is fighting the Ministry if Education's decision to close it down.

The Salisbury School Board of Trustees says it is confident it has put a strong case at the High Court in Wellington.

"We're really hopeful. We feel like we've got a great legal team behind us. We're very confident in how they supported us," said Helen McDonnell of the Board of Trustees.

The lawyer for the Crown says there is sufficient special education available elsewhere, including in mainstream schools.

The judge's ruling is expected before Christmas.
