Spanish royals tour Auckland

Royal watchers may get a glimpse of Spanish royalty around Auckland on Monday.

Spain's King Juan Carlos and his wife Queen Sofia are embarking on a series of official stops around the city.

They visited the University of Auckland in the morning to meet spanish students, before a business lunch at the Skycity convention centre.

On Monday afternoon they will be opening a spanish explorers exhibition at the Maritime Museum before unveling a plaque in honour of Sir Peter Blake.

On Tuesday the pair head to Wellington to meet the Prime Minister.
