Three-and-a-half thousand council workers across Auckland know their jobs are safe.

Frontline staff such as pool attendants, librarians and consent processors will keep their jobs under the new super city.

But the future is less certain for nearly 4,000 other staff who have received letters confirming their jobs will change.

And there are concerns Auckland's more serious problems will not be fixed with 200 management roles to go.

The final number of job cuts should be known in a month.

The super city comes into existence from November.
